Home is where the heart is

It’s been a stressful few days, folks. No matter what side of the fence you’re on, it’s a time of change. And that’s scary to a lot of people.

But today, like most days, i spent a lot of time with Jeff. Bread was baked, errands were run, wine and beer were consumed. It’s no secret that i have dreams of living in Europe someday. And that someday can’t come soon enough for me. But today, home was where i made it. Love italy? Sure. But i just had wine, cheese, and bread here. I got to walk my dog. Go for a run. Watch Beetlejuice on demand. So it’s not always about someday. It’s about making what you love a part of each day. And that’s what makes where you are, home.

  1. I think it is really so important to live TODAY while it is still here. My goal is always to be present in the moment, to not wish life away … which is why I hate it when it is still really cold in late March and I find myself just wanting real spring to arrive!

I know my kids had that feeling of serious inertia after the election – it was such a staggering moment for them in their first election that they really didn’t know what to do next. But ultimately you have to wake up, get up, and get on with life … and then figure out how to make the changes needed.

    • I completely agree! Ultimately, I had to acknowledge that I’m the only one responsible for my own happiness. And I can find that in so many places! Except sometimes Nebraska in February when you really wish winter was OVER.
